WORKING WITH YOUTH

We provide tours of the facilities for students of all grades. These tours provide a first hand experience to associate with and learn the responsibilities and job functions of airport personnel, pilots and mechanics.

Since the Ocean City Aviation Association is a non-profit corporation, we do need donations to help defray the costs of these educational programs. if you would care to donate, please send your contribution to OCAA, P.O. Box 4355 Ocean City, MD 21843-4355      continue to bottom

Airport Tours are a favorite of all school grades. The youth of today have been raised in an aviation and space environment in which air travel is commonplace. These tours provide many students with their first opportunity to associate directly with airport personnel, pilots, mechanics, and many different aircraft. They become acquainted with the various job functions and responsibilities within the aviation industry and future vocational opportunities. Standing in close proximity to an actual aircraft provides the student with a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom theory to aircraft design and construction.

The Civil Air Patrol Squadron (U. S. Air Force Auxiliary) is a local youth program sponsored by the U. S. Air Force. Based on military organization and discipline, it aids in developing leadership, character, and achievement traits in young men and women. Through the study of aeronautical science and future aerospace exploration and events, it prepares them for roles in defense of their country and the world of tomorrow.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles Program–The original mission of this program was to provide a meaningful flight experience for one million young people (primarily between the age of 8 and 17) by the 100th anniversary of the Wright brother’s first powered flight–December 17, 2003. The EAA was so impressed with its results that they decided to extend the program. Local EAA members continue to volunteer their time and aircraft to make the flights possible.
